A high-level delegation from Yamanashi Prefecture is on a three-day visit to Uttar Pradesh, led by Vice Governor Junichi Ishida, along with a 12-member team, to explore investment and collaboration opportunities across key sectors.
The visit has been coordinated by Invest UP to strengthen investment ties between Yamanashi and Uttar Pradesh and to further deepen India–Japan cooperation in areas such as green hydrogen, renewable energy, infrastructure, tourism, and hospitality.

On the first day, the delegation held discussions with the Tourism Department. Jaiveer Singh, Hm Minister of Tourism & Culture, highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s growing potential as a global spiritual and cultural hub, supported by modern infrastructure and improved connectivity. He emphasized the state’s six major Buddhist sites and prominent destinations such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura, and Prayagraj, which attract millions of visitors every year. Japanese investors and travellers were invited to explore opportunities in tourism infrastructure, hospitality, wellness tourism, and heritage-based projects.

In the second half of the day, the delegation engaged in substantive discussions with the Energy Department and UPNEDA to enhance cooperation in clean energy and sustainable development. The Yamanashi delegation, including Narendra Upadhyay, Advisor to the Prefectural Government, and representatives from Kanadevia Corporation and Kinki Nippon Tourist Co., shared their perspectives during the interaction.
Narendra Bhooshan, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy, Additional Energy Sources & Technical Education), along with Inderjeet Singh, Director, UPNEDA, presented Uttar Pradesh’s green energy roadmap with a special focus on green hydrogen initiatives.
The Yamanashi delegation outlined its vision for collaboration, stating that Yamanashi Prefecture would contribute advanced technological know-how, while Kanadevia would bring expertise in green hydrogen production, along with technology transfer and technical support.
The delegation also expressed keen interest in the Uttar Pradesh Green Hydrogen Policy 2024, which includes pilot projects, enabling infrastructure, and an investor-friendly framework. Two proposed Centres of Excellence (CoEs), led by IIT (BHU) Varanasi and IIT Kanpur, were discussed in detail for collaboration.
