The visit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Arun Singh to Mathura has stirred political controversy.
The public meeting, organised on Tuesday with the objective of taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and the message of “Jai Shri Ram” to the masses, became a topic of discussion when complex questions related to education and law surfaced amid religious discourse. While heavy rain significantly affected the arrangements, the real challenge emerged in the form of sharp questions raised by the public.

The party had organised the meeting to highlight the government’s achievements among villagers. In his address, Arun Singh strongly articulated the party’s ideology on the Ram Temple and cultural nationalism.

However, when the interaction session began, local youth and villagers raised concerns over the central government’s education policies, particularly the new rules and the ongoing controversies surrounding the University Grants Commission (UGC). The audience clearly stated that the existing law was not in the best interests of students and demanded that it be withdrawn or amended.
When questioned directly about what they termed the “flawed” UGC law, the senior BJP leader appeared somewhat uncomfortable.
Instead of offering concrete or logical solutions, he limited his response to assurances, repeatedly stating that the matter was under discussion at a high level and that the government was serious about addressing it. This response failed to satisfy those present, many of whom described it as inadequate.
Adverse weather conditions also disrupted the BJP’s public outreach programme, with rain causing disorder in the pandal. Despite this, those who remained at the venue continued to press their grievances. The statements of the villagers reflected a clear demand for a well-defined government policy on education and employment, rather than mere assurances.
