77th Republic Day: India celebrates ‘Vande Mataram’, highlights Op Sindoor success during grand parade at Kartavya Path
President Droupadi Murmu leads the Republic Day 2026 celebrations from Kartavya Path, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Mr Antonio Costa joining her as the chief guests at this year’s Republic Day event.
Happy Republic Day 2026 to you all. Kartavya Path witnessed a historic display of patriotism, robust military prowess, and cultural pride during the 77th Republic Day parade in New Delhi on Monday, January 26, 2026. President Droupadi Murmu led the Republic Day 2026 celebrations from Kartavya Path, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Mr Antonio Costa joining her as the chief guests at this year’s Republic Day event.
The parade began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tribute to the fallen at the National War Memorial. Modi also laid the wreath at the war memorial. After that, the national flag was unfurled, followed by the national anthem and a thunderous 21-gun salute.

As the parade began, around 100 cultural artists rolled down the Kartavya Path on the theme of ‘Vividata Mein Ekta – Unity in Diversity’. Their performance was followed by a flower petal shower by four Mi-17 1V helicopters of the 129 Helicopter Unit flying in the ‘Dhwaj Formation’ while carrying the National Flag.
