Another death was reported from the Bhagirathpura area of Indore on Sunday, with the family of the deceased alleging that he too died of diarrhoea and vomiting due to consumption of contaminated drinking water of the Narmada river supplied by the Indore Municipal Corporation through household taps in the locality.

The unofficial reported death toll has now reached 28.

However, the number of fatalities remains disputed, as the administration had initially confirmed only four deaths and then six. Later, in a report submitted to the High Court, the state government admitted that 15 deaths were caused by the contaminated drinking water.

The latest fatality reported on Sunday was of Rajaram Borasi (75). He was admitted to the government super speciality hospital for treatment, but died today.

Borasi was the ward president of the Congress party in n the Bhagirathpura area. He was a retired teacher.

The health department stated that Borasi was suffering from heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure, and his medical reports do not confirm death due to vomiting and diarrhoea.
