Targetting the BJP government and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Samajwadi Party said those who “serve as slaves to the BJP” receive VIP facilities and security, while those who raise their voices for religion and the public are humiliated and subjected to violence.

On Friday, the Samajwadi Party posted on its media cell handle, “Those who serve as slaves to the Chief Minister and the BJP will travel in charter planes, in expensive cars worth crores, and officers will serve them. But those who speak for the protection of the cow, the protection of Mother Ganga, and the common man will be called anti-Hindu and demons.”

The SP called the alleged incidents involving religious leaders at the Prayagraj bathing festival “extremely shameful” and said, “When Satua Baba and the BJP’s subservient babas can take their bulldozers to the bathing site, why was the palanquin of the Shankaracharya, a tradition of centuries, not allowed? A palanquin is smaller than a bulldozer, and a bulldozer is more likely to cause an accident, yet the administration gave way to the bulldozer and stopped the palanquin.”

The party said, “In the BJP government, the Shankaracharya is being asked for a certificate, his followers are being attacked and insulted, and the Chief Minister is using abusive language from the stage.”

The SP said, “The BJP pretends to be the protector of religion, but in reality, this party has become the biggest corrupt, irreligious, and criminal gang.” The party alleged that the BJP’s new character is that “as long as you remain silent on their corruption, you are considered one of their own, but as soon as you speak out against injustice, you will be declared non-Hindu, Pakistani, and anti-national.”

The party demanded an impartial investigation into the entire matter, action against the culprits, and respect for religious traditions.

There has been a religious and political dispute involving Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati (Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath) during the Magh Mela in Prayagraj. On January 18 (Mauni Amavasya), Swami Avimukteshwaranand attempted to reach the Sangam for a ritual bath. The administration alleged he tried to proceed in a horse-drawn carriage or palanquin through a restricted route, breaking barriers and risking a stampede.

The Mela Administration issued a second show-cause notice to Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati for alleged violations, including unauthorised access through a restricted route. The Shankaracharya’s camp refuted the allegations, calling them defamatory, asserting adherence to safety norms during religious duties.

Without naming the seer, the UP Chief Minister warned against “Kalanemis” (deceptive figures) who disguise themselves to weaken Sanatana Dharma.
Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leaders have accused the BJP government of “administrative arrogance” and insulting Hindu traditions.
