Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in a programme celebrating a decade of the Startup India initiative on January 16, at 1 PM at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, a government release said on Thursday.

The event will bring together members of India’s vibrant startup ecosystem, with select startup representatives sharing their entrepreneurial journeys. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering, highlighting the achievements and progress of the Startup India initiative.

Launched on January 16, 2016, Startup India aims to nurture innovation, promote entrepreneurship, and enable investment-driven growth, with the goal of making India a nation of job creators rather than job seekers. Over the past decade, the initiative has strengthened institutional mechanisms, expanded access to capital and mentorship, and fostered an enabling environment for startups to grow and scale across sectors and geographies.

India’s startup ecosystem has witnessed unprecedented expansion, with over 200,000 startups recognised across the country, driving employment generation, innovation-led economic growth, and strengthening domestic value chains in diverse sectors.
