Uttar Pradesh Day 2026, marking the state’s foundation, will be celebrated this year in a more comprehensive, grand, and global format.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that, in addition to the main event in the capital, Lucknow, during the three-day celebration from January 24 to 26, 2026, UP Day events should also be organised at all district headquarters across the state, at all Raj Bhavans across the country, and at Indian embassies abroad.

Reviewing the preparations here on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that the citizens of Uttar Pradesh have established their identity in many parts of the country and the world. He added that UP Day should serve as an occasion to connect expatriate UP residents with their cultural roots. To this end, communication will be established at all Raj Bhavans, and events will be organised, with state government ministers present to interact with expatriate residents.
The Chief Minister also directed that communication be established through Indian embassies abroad for UP Day celebrations.
The CM stated that ‘UP Diwas’ is not merely a formal celebration, but a means to effectively showcase Uttar Pradesh’s cultural heritage, historical consciousness, economic strength, and development journey on the global stage. The events should be dignified, well-organised, innovative, and involve widespread public participation.
The Chief Minister placed special emphasis on organising singing, dancing, instrumental, and drama competitions at the district, division, and state levels. He stated that special films focusing on the district’s development journey should also be screened at district-level celebrations. The ‘Uttar Pradesh Gaurav Samman’, ‘Vishwakarma Shramik Samman’, and ‘Mati Kala Board Samman’ will be presented on the occasion of UP Day. Entrepreneurs, athletes, women, doctors, scientists, and progressive farmers will be honoured, honoring the state’s talent and hard work.
Additionally, to connect the state’s historical and ideological heritage with the public, theatrical performances will be organised related to Dharti Aba Birsa Munda, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Vande Mataram-Anand Math, and Punya Shloka Ahilyabai Holkar. Bharatendu Natya Academy will present a special programme based on Anand Math to mark the 150th anniversary of the composition of Vande Mataram.
Ensuring the active participation of youth and students, students from Bhatkhande University of Culture will present dance-dramas based on the themes of “Vande Mataram” and “Developed India-Developed Uttar Pradesh.”
The Chief Minister was informed that this year, 3-D and fibre models, virtual reality, 360-degree tours, short films, quiz competitions, and photo exhibitions will be organised to showcase the state’s culture through modern technology.
The Chief Minister stated that events such as open mics, street plays, puppet theatre, rangoli, traditional costume competitions, culinary competitions, and Kala Gram will be held to give “UP Day” a public celebration. Special performances will also be organised by renowned musical houses like Agra, Kirana, Banaras, Hariharpur, Lucknow, Rampur, and Badaun.
The Chief Minister stated that UP Diwas 2026 should become a powerful symbol of the state’s identity, self-respect, and development journey. He stressed that all programmes should be held on time, coordinated well, and be of high quality, ensuring the event becomes a memorable and inspiring public celebration.
