The ongoing jail drama surrounding Kannada actor Darshan has taken a new turn. His wife, Vijayalaxmi, has accused the Bengaluru Police of ignoring her complaint about abusive comments posted against her on social media.
Vijayalaxmi met Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh on Wednesday to discuss her concerns. After the meeting, she expressed her frustration on social media.

“My complaint has been completely neglected. I always believed that the law is the same for everyone, but this experience has made me question that,” she wrote. She added that action was reportedly taken within a day in a similar case involving another woman.

In her post, Vijayalaxmi urged authorities to act without bias. “I truly hope this delay isn’t due to any external pressure. Justice shouldn’t depend on who’s involved. Those supporting or sheltering such behaviour may need to rethink their priorities,” she wrote. She concluded with a strong warning: “I am still waiting. And I won’t just let this slide.”
Vijayalaxmi’s comments come against the backdrop of a previous high-profile incident. Actress and former Congress MP Ramya (Divya Spandana) had received rape threats online after supporting the family of a fan murder victim. The police had acted quickly in her case making arrests within a short period.
Vijayalaxmi’s post implied a contrast between her experience and Ramya’s case suggesting that her complaint has not received the same urgency.
Responding to the allegations, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh rejected the claims of inaction.
“In my view, Vijayalakshmi’s allegations are false. The police are here for everyone, not for any particular group. We act strictly according to the law,” he stated.
He added that the complaint was registered immediately and initially handled by the Cyber Crime Branch (CCB). The investigation has now moved to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) level.
“Sometimes leads are obtained immediately, and sometimes there is a delay. Apart from that, there is no other intention. The police cannot afford to be negligent. If negligence is found, we will take action against the officers concerned,” Singh said.
Last week, Vijayalaxmi formally lodged a complaint at Bengaluru’s Cyber Crime Police Station. She listed 15 Instagram accounts and over 150 offensive comments directed at her. Along with her complaint, she submitted photographs and screenshots of the abusive posts.
She also met officials at the Police Commissioner’s office urging them to take action against the offensive accounts. The cybercrime inspector who received her complaint assured her that appropriate steps will be in place.
Following these meetings, Vijayalaxmi shared an Instagram story highlighting the abusive messages she received, posting screenshots of both the comments and the accounts responsible.
