Russian President Vladimir Putin

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Monday claimed that Ukraine launched 91 long-range kamikaze drones at Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state residence in the Novgorod Region.

Lavrov accused Kyiv of switching to “state terrorism policies”. He said Moscow will review its negotiating position following the alleged Ukrainian attacks on Putin’s residence.

“All the unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed by air defense systems of Russia’s Armed Forces,” Lavrov was quoted as saying by Russia Today.

He asserted that although Moscow will not withdraw from the peace negotiations process with the US, it will revise its negotiating position.

“We do not intend to withdraw from the negotiation process with the US. However, given the complete degeneration of the criminal Kiev regime, which has shifted to a policy of state terrorism, Russia’s negotiating position will be revised,” he added.

The development comes amid intensified negotiations between Russia and the US. It also comes after the recent meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyer Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump to discuss  the Ukraine peace deal.

Zelenskyy calls Russian allegations ‘lies’

Reacting to Russia’s allegations, Zelenskyy said that Moscow is using dangerous statements to undermine all achievements of diplomatic efforts with President Trump’s team.

He said, “This alleged “residence strike” story is a complete fabrication intended to justify additional attacks against Ukraine, including Kyiv, as well as Russia’s own refusal to take necessary steps to end the war. Typical Russian lies. Furthermore, the Russians have already targeted Kyiv in the past, including the Cabinet of Ministers building.”

The Ukrainian President further stayed that his country does not take steps that can undermine diplomacy. “To the contrary, Russia always takes such steps. This is one of many differences between us,” he added.
