The Indian National Congress has announced the launch of a statewide public outreach initiative titled ‘Samvidhan Samvaad,’ under which the party will organise 30 rallies across Uttar Pradesh over the next 100 days to raise public awareness about constitutional values and democratic rights.
Addressing a press conference at the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters on Sunday, AICC General Secretary and UP in-charge Avinash Pandey said the programme is being launched at a time when the country is facing serious challenges such as inflation, unemployment, agrarian distress, and what he described as continuous attempts to weaken democracy and the Constitution.

Pandey alleged that the BJP government is undermining democratic institutions and social harmony, while common citizens, farmers and workers continue to suffer.
He expressed concern over the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), stating that delays in fund releases and excessive centralisation have weakened the role of Gram Sabhas, adversely impacting rural livelihoods.
Highlighting concerns over the electoral process, Pandey termed the alleged deletion of voters’ names during Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercises as a “serious threat to democracy.” He said the large-scale removal of names from electoral rolls raises questions about the fairness of elections and amounts to depriving citizens of their constitutional right to vote.
Pandey asserted that the Congress party would not remain silent on these issues and would fight to protect the Constitution and voting rights “from the streets to Parliament” under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and senior leader Priyanka Gandhi.
As part of the Samvidhan Samvaad initiative, rallies will be organised in major districts including Varanasi, Ayodhya, Mathura, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur and Chitrakoot, along with other regions of the state.
In addition to rallies, the party will conduct Chaupals, Mahapanchayat and conventions to mobilise public opinion against what it described as the BJP’s “anti-people policies.” Training camps will also be organised to strengthen the party cadre across the state.
Pandey further stated that the Congress will contest the 2026 local body and MLC elections independently, respecting the aspirations of party workers, and is fully preparing to contest all seats in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections while taking on the BJP under the broader leadership of the INDIA alliance.
UP Congress President Ajay Rai and other senior party leaders were present at the press conference. Pandey also extended greetings to party workers on the occasion of the Congress Foundation Day.
