The Singapore Police Force has issued a statement saying that so far, they suspect no foul play in Zubeen Garg’s death case.

While the probe is still underway in Zubeen Garg’s death case, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) gave a statement on Friday saying that so far, they suspect no foul play in his death. They will be submitting their findings upon completion of the investigations, as per the Singapore Coroners Act, 2010.

The SPF further mentioned that based on the findings, a Coroner’s Inquiry (CI) will be held by the State Coroner in Singapore. The hearings in the case are scheduled to be held in January and February 2026.

In the statement, the SPF also acknowledged online speculation surrounding the circumstances of Garg’s death, as well as reports in Indian media claiming that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in India has charged several individuals with his murder.

The SPF has urged the public to refrain from speculation and the spread of unverified information, while seeking patience and understanding from all parties involved.

Parallel probe underway by Assam Police

An SIT team formed by Assam Police is also investigating the death case of Zubeen Garg. Led by Special DGP (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta, the SIT team filed a chargesheet on 12 December in the Court of the CJM, Kamrup, Guwahati, against seven arrested accused persons under various sections. The main chargesheet is about 2,500 pages, and the supporting documents are around 12,000 pages.

The chargesheet was submitted by a team of SIT led by Rosie Kalita. In the chargesheet, the SIT charged murder under Section 103 of BNS against four accused – Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddharth Sharma, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta.

The seven persons arrested in connection with the case, include the main event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Zubeen Garg’s Manager Siddharth Sharma, bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, co-singer Amritprava Mahanta, Zubeen’s cousin Sandipan Garg, and two PSOs, Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya.

On 21 October, the SIT team met Singapore authorities regarding the case. So far, the SIT has recorded statements from over 300 individuals.

The next hearing is scheduled for 22 December.
