He reiterated that one of the biggest achievements of his two-year government was the elimination of Naxalism from MP. He pointed out that on 11 December this year, the state converted ‘laal salaam'(red salute) into the last salute.
He said that in 1999, during the Congress government, the Naxals had the audacity of even assassinating a cabinet minister (Likhiram Kanwre) of the state government.
The CM also noted that the BJP government has carried out many achievements like ending extremism, terror funding, the Indian Mujahideen and weapons factories.
He enumerated the achievements of the government in spheres such as education and women’s empowerment and pointed out that the Laadli Behna Yojana’s instalments were raised to Rs 1,500 from Rs 1,000.
“Many words that had been borrowed from English have been done away with. ‘Vice-chancellor’ has been replaced by ‘kulguru’,” the CM emphasised.
“The government decided to celebrate 2025 as the year of industry, and it has been decided that 2026 shall be the year of agriculture. The tradition has been established of giving body donors a guard of honour so that more and more people are inspired. The government is taking several key decisions that are associated with the lives of the people. A bus transport service will begin in April 2026”, the CM informed the House.
Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar urged that the people of the state still desire a lot from the state government.
He said that the public wants many guarantees before 2026. “These include Minimum Support Price for soya and paddy, 27 per cent reservation for the Other Backward Classes, solving the fertiliser crisis and ensuring round-the-clock electricity”, Singhar elaborated.
Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar lauded the MP Assembly’s history.
“This session marks the completion of 70 years since the Assembly’s maiden sitting on December 17, 1956. The state’s first Vidhan Sabha was constituted on November 1, 1956. This is the Assembly’s fourth special session, the previous ones having been conducted in 1997, 2000 and 2015. Until now, the Vidhan Sabha has had 4,499 members. The first Speaker, Pandit Kunjilal Dubey, had expressed confidence that in future the Assembly’s pride would be part and parcel of the country’s pride”, Tomar emphasised.
