The Election Commission (EC) has published West Bengal’s draft electoral rolls following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The current draft electoral rolls of the state are estimated to include 7,08,16,631 voters’ names, as compared to 7,66,37,529 in the previous electoral rolls.

Earlier today, the Election Commission had released the list of voters whose names were in the West Bengal Electoral Rolls as of 2025, but are excluded in the Draft Roll of SIR 2026. More than 58 lakh voters have been deleted from the electoral list as EC did not receive their enumeration forms.

However, they can submit their claims in Form 6 along with the Declaration Form and supporting documents from 16 December 2025 till 15 January 2026. The EC has fixed this time window for receiving claims and objections.

The lists have been prepared by the Booth Level Officer (BLO), in consultation with the BLAs.

With the publication of the draft electoral rolls, the first stage of the three-stage Special Intensive Revision drive, which started on 04 November, has concluded in the state. The second phase of the SIR is likely to begin soon. During the second phase, the SIR process would include filing of claims and objections, along with the notice phase, including issuance, hearing, verification, and decision on enumeration forms, and disposal of claims and objections.

EC is expected to release the final voters’ list on February 14, 2026. The state assembly elections are due early next year in West Bengal.
