American actor and comedian Amy Schumer has shared that she and her husband, chef Chris Fischer, have decided to go their separate ways. After seven years of marriage, the couple has chosen to end their relationship.
Amy broke the news herself on Instagram choosing to speak directly to her fans instead of letting rumours take over. In her message, she made it clear that the decision was not easy, but it was mutual and peaceful. She described the split as “amicable”.

Staying true to her comic style, Amy also addressed the many rumours that had been floating around. She shut down gossip about weight loss, looks or career success being the reason for the split. She joked that it was not because she lost weight or because Chris is an award-winning chef who could easily impress anyone.
Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer got married in February 2018 in a private ceremony. Just over a year later, in May 2019, they welcomed their son, Gene, who remains the centre of their world. Amy has often spoken openly about motherhood and family, and she made it clear that co-parenting Gene together will always be their top priority.
A source close to the couple told ‘PEOPLE’ magazine that there is no drama behind the split. According to the insider, the separation is calm and respectful, and the two have just been working through final details.
“There’s nothing ugly,” the source said adding that it’s been a smooth and understanding process.
For months, fans had noticed signs that something might be off. In November, reports suggested that Amy and Chris were dealing with “normal issues” that many long-term marriages face. At that time, sources insisted that both were committed to trying to make things work. Amy herself even posted a message saying they were still married hoping to put speculation to rest.
On December 1, Amy once again spoke up explaining that whatever happened between her and Chris had nothing to do with weight loss or autism. She praised Chris, calling him “the best,” and expressed hope that they could work through things.
Their last public appearance together was in June at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival.
