According to an order issued by the Excise Commissioner’s office here on Friday, the opening hours for the shops during Christmas on December 24 and 25 and New Year’s celebrations on December 30 and 31 have been fixed from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm.

The Uttar Pradesh Excise Department has decided to extend the hours of operation of all excise retail shops across the state in view of Christmas and New Year.
According to an order issued by the Excise Commissioner’s office here on Friday, the opening hours for the shops during Christmas on December 24 and 25 and New Year’s celebrations on December 30 and 31 have been fixed from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm.

Previously, or on normal days, liquor retail shops were open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.

The order states that keeping in mind the increased demand and crowds during festivals, it is necessary to extend the shop timings so that the system remains smooth.
Excise Commissioner Dr. Adarsh Singh has directed all district magistrates and licensing officers to ensure strict compliance with the order and ensure timely completion of necessary legal action. A copy of the order has been sent to all concerned officials and they have been asked to prepare for effective management of operations, security, and law and order.
In view of the possibility of increased crowds during festivals, the administrative and police departments have been instructed to coordinate and maintain security arrangements so that there is no chaos despite the extended sale period. The order has been implemented with immediate effect.
