West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday unveiled ‘Unnayoner Panchali’, a detailed report card of what she described as 15 years of inclusive and transformative governance under the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

The ‘Unnayoner Panchali’, which roughly translates to ‘the tale of development’, showcases the progress Bengal has achieved under 15 years of Mamata Banerjee-led TMC rule.

Speaking at the launch event, CM Banerjee said that the development story of West Bengal is transparent, people-powered, and unstoppable, and now, every citizen will see it for themselves.

She claimed that her government created 2 crore jobs in the last 14 years.

Accusing the Narendra Modi-led central governmentof withholding the state’s funds, Banerjee said that her government continued with development activities despite the Centre not clearing the state’s dues.

“Bengal topped the country in MGNREGA, rural housing, village road construction 4 times in row before Centre withheld money,” she said.

Banerjee stated that the budgetary allocation in thebstate’s health sector was increased by six times in last 14 yrs. “Bengal is now a model in various fields for rest of India,” she asserted.

Highlighting her government’s welfare schemes, Banerjee said the Krishak Bandhu scheme has transformed the lives of cultivators across the state, with 1.2 crore farmers receiving financial assistance amounting to ₹27,016 crore.

Under the scheme’s death benefit component, 1.6 lakh bereaved families have been supported, she said.

Through Bangla Shasya Bima, farmers are protected against crop loss. Under Khadya Sathi, 9 crore people receive free ration, a lifeline sustained through an expenditure of ₹1.09 lakh crore. The Duare Ration initiative has taken food security to people’s doorsteps, benefiting 7.41 crore citizens at an expenditure of ₹1,717 crore.

For workers in the unorganised sector, she said, the Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha Yojana has ensured comprehensive social protection, with the entire premium borne by the State. 1.84 crore beneficiaries have been supported through an expenditure exceeding ₹2,880 crore.

The Bengal CM also proposed a dedicated welfare scheme for gig workers, recognising the evolving nature of work and ensuring that those who keep the wheels of the modern economy turning are protected, valued, and supported.

Announces compensation for BLOs who died “due to SIR panic”

The West Bengal Chief Minister also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the Booth Level Officers (BLO) who died allegedly under the pressure of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and Rs 1 lakh for those who currently admitted to hospitals.

“West Bengal govt will give Rs 2 lakh aid to each of the families of 39 people who died ‘due to SIR panic’. For those currently admitted to hospitals, we will provide Rs 1 lakh each,” she added.

“Bengal CM compiled 15 years of lies’: BJP

Reacting to the Bengal CM’s report card, the Opposition BJP said that she has compiled 15 years of lies and presented it before the people.

“When she saw that defeat was imminent for her, she compiled 15 years of lies and presented it before the people. In the past 15 years, how many murders have occurred, how many women’s dignity has been violated, and atrocities committed against them…” BJP leader Rahul Sinha said.
