Patanjali on Saturday clarified that it sells cow milk and ghee only after strict standards and inspections.
“This clarification regarding the news published in various media reports about Patanjali Ghee pertains to the case and the related court order concerning the sample of Patanjali cow ghee taken by the Food Safety Department, Pithoragarh, on 20 October 2020 under the Food Safety Act, which came to our notice through media reports,” an authorised officer of Patanjali Ayurved Limited said in a statement.

“This order is erroneous and illegal for the following reasons: The referral laboratory was not NABL accredited to test cow ghee, so the testing conducted there is not legally acceptable. It is ridiculous and highly objectionable that a substandard lab has declared Patanjali’s best cow ghee as substandard. The parameters on the basis of which the sample was declared failed were not applicable at that time; hence, their use is legally wrong. Retesting was done after the expiry date of the sample, which is invalid as per law,” the statement further said.
