As the internet knows by now, the wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and composer Palash Muchhal has been postponed, and even Bollywood stars were taken aback by the news. What truly caught everyone’s attention, however, was the quiet strength shown by Smriti’s close friend and teammate, Jemimah Rodrigues who skipped Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2025.

Deeply moved, he shared the article and wrote, “Bumped into this article first thing in the morning and my heart felt full. Jemimah leaving the WBBL to be by Smriti’s side. No big statements, just quiet solidarity.”
He ended the message warmly, saying, “This is what real teammates do. Simple. Straight. Genuine.”
Why Jemimah Rodrigues left the WBBL
Jemimah was originally supposed to return to Australia after attending Smriti and Palash’s wedding. But when Smriti’s father’s health suddenly declined, Jemimah made the immediate decision to stay back and support her friend. This meant stepping away from the WBBL season.
The Brisbane Heat confirmed her request saying, “The Brisbane Heat have agreed to a request to release Jemimah Rodrigues from the remainder of the Women’s Big Bash League.”
According to media reports, Heat CEO Terry Svenson admitted it was a tough moment for the team. But he added that Jemimah’s situation was far more important. He reportedly said, “It has obviously been a challenging time for Jemi… We were more than willing to agree to her request to remain in India.”
