Tnusree Chakraborty, Bengali actress, marries Sujit Basu in a surprise wedding in the USA

Bengali actress Tnusree (Tanusree/Tanushree) Chakraborty recently gave her fans a delightful shock. Without any prior announcement, the actress tied the knot in a quiet intimate ceremony in the USA with Sujit Basu.

In the wedding, Tnusree looked radiant in a full-sleeved net lehenga. She paired it with an emerald jewelry set and Bangla traditional sankha-pola. Her husband Sujit Basu complemented her in a classic black tuxedo. The couple also performed sindur daan.

Who is Tnusree Chakraborty?

Tnusree Chakraborty is quite a popular name in the Bengali film industry. She started her career as a model but quickly became a familiar face through commercials. This includes a popular Bangladeshi ad for Pran Powder Spice.

Her breakthrough in films came with the 2011 movie ‘Uro Chithi’. She later impressed audiences with movies like ‘Bedroom’ (2012), ‘Obhishopto Nighty’ (2014), ‘Window Connections’ (2014), ‘Buno Haansh’ (2014).

Apart from acting, she has also appeared on television. She hosted ‘Sampurna’ which is a beauty and lifestyle show on Zee Bangla.

Political life

Tnusree’s journey hasn’t been limited to films. In 2021, she stepped into politics by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She contested from the Shyampur seat in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections. Though her entry into politics was promising, she didn’t win the seat.

Soon after, in July 2021, Tnusree decided to leave the party, explaining that she wanted to focus more on her film career rather than politics.

Who is Sujit Basu?

Tnusree’s husband, Sujit Basu, is an IT professional and technologist based in Atlanta. The couple had known each other for a long time, but their bond deepened over the past few months.

In Tnusree’s words, “It was a surprise wedding, all planned by him. We had been thinking about getting married, but I didn’t know he had a plan ready. He just said, ‘Let’s get hitched,’ and we did!”

The wedding was an intimate affair.
