Reliance Group Chairman Mukesh Ambani discussed aspects of sixth-generation (6G) telecom network equipment with Samsung’s top leadership during a meeting in Seoul, the South Korean daily Korea JoongAng Daily reported on Wednesday.
The newspaper stated that Samsung expects to further strengthen its cooperation with the Reliance Group in supplying 6G network equipment, building artificial intelligence (AI) data centres and providing energy storage systems for large-scale data operations.

During the meeting between Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, the two leaders explored collaboration across several of Samsung’s key business pillars, including semiconductors, telecommunications, data centres, batteries and construction.

Samsung had partnered with Reliance Jio in 2012 to build the telecom carrier’s nationwide fourth-generation (4G) mobile network. Samsung and other multinational vendors are also understood to be working with Indian telecom companies on their fifth-generation (5G) networks.
It may be recalled that in August 2025, the annual report of Reliance Industries Ltd stated that “Digital services company Jio is actively engaged in the development of 6G technology with an aim to be a global leader in the segment.”
“Jio continues to work on future communication technologies and is actively researching and developing 6G technology, aiming to be a global leader in its development and deployment,” the Reliance annual report noted.
The South Korean daily further reported that discussions also covered expanding cooperation for Reliance’s planned USD 30-billion artificial intelligence data centre, along with energy storage systems and battery solutions for its upcoming AI campus.
Reliance, which aims to diversify beyond petrochemicals and retail into advanced information technologies, plans to build a major AI data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The facility is projected to have a capacity of up to 3 gigawatts—far exceeding most of today’s largest data centres, which typically operate below 1 gigawatt.
Earlier, the Reliance Group had outlined its ambition to transform Jamnagar into a major AI hub, supported by partnerships with global technology giants such as Nvidia, Meta and Google Cloud.
