Sudhakar Singh defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cabinet minister Dara Singh Chauhan in the last by-election. Originally from Ghosi, Sudhakar Singh was considered a prominent leader in the district. He was a strong contender for the SP ticket from Ghosi in the 2022 assembly elections.

He received the party ticket, but at the last minute, the party cancelled his ticket and nominated Dara Singh Chauhan, who had left the BJP. The SP was successful in winning the seat, but Dara Singh Chauhan’s defection once again led to a by-election in 2023.

Sudhakar Singh defeated Dara Singh Chauhan in the by-election. He also contested the Ghosi Assembly seat in 2017 but lost by less than 2,000 votes.

Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav expressed his grief over the death of Sudhakar Singh.

” May his soul rest in peace. May the bereaved family find strength to bear this immense loss. Heartfelt condolences,” he said.
