In continuation of the recent high-alert situation following the terror attacks in Delhi, the authorities of the Eastern Railway have deployed two additional companies from the Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) at Howrah station.
In the background of the emergent situation in view of the incident, the Eastern Railway strengthened its security arrangements on 11 November. A ‘Quick Response Team’ was also formed to rush in case of any emergencies while all the divisions had been put on high alert and advised to keep strict security vigilance on all trains. In addition, officers including IG-cum-PCSC of Eastern Railway were keeping watch on any suspicious activity over Eastern Railway.

A week after the incident, the IG-cum-principal chief security commissioner, Eastern Railway, Amiya Nandan Sinha, inspected Howrah station today. He also reviewed the existing security arrangements and measures being implemented by the RPF at Howrah station. He emphasised meticulous monitoring of CCTVs and the FRS-based surveillance system, effective functioning of baggage scanners, staggered movement of inbound and outbound passengers, and other measures aimed at strengthening security. Senior RPF officers of Howrah Division and the Eastern Railway headquarters accompanied him during the inspection. In addition, the sniffer and explosives detection dog squad has been instructed to remain on standby for checking suspicious articles at the station and in trains.
