In a strategic step towards enhancing combat medical readiness, the Commandant of 166 Military Hospital and the Principal Director of Acharya Shri Chander Medical College & Hospital (ASCOMS), Jammu, on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide comprehensive medical support during hostilities and wartime operations.

Furthermore, blood transfusion facilities, ambulances, and dedicated surgical teams will be on standby to ensure a rapid medical response to combat injuries. In addition to these life-saving measures, the MoU includes provisions for specialized care such as dialysis and angiography, ensuring the highest standard of treatment under challenging conditions.

Super-specialist support is a key feature of this partnership, with experts in cardiology, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, urology, and reconstructive surgery available to deliver advanced care as required.

This multi-dimensional support system will enable efficient and effective handling of a wide range of medical needs—from trauma care to specialized surgeries.

The signing of the MoU underscores the commitment of both institutions to maintaining a prepared and resilient healthcare infrastructure, even in the face of conflict.

By pooling their resources and expertise, the two institutions aim to provide uninterrupted, high-quality medical services during emergencies and wartime scenarios, ultimately safeguarding the lives of those who serve the nation.

This collaboration marks a vital step in enhancing national security by ensuring that both the military and local communities are supported by a robust and well-equipped medical system capable of responding to the most demanding situations.

Through this partnership, both institutions reaffirm their dedication to serving and protecting the nation, ensuring that medical care remains uncompromised regardless of the circumstances, a defence spokesman said.
