Virtually launching the BJP-led NDA’s campaign for the Assembly elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry early next year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday charged the Congress with indulging in negative politics and said he apprehended another major split in the grand old party.
Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters here, he said the NDA’s massive win in the Bihar assembly elections has opened the door for the alliance to end the ‘Jungle Raj’ in West Bengal. “The victory in Bihar has paved the way for the BJP’s triumph in Bengal. I want to assure the people of West Bengal that, with your support, the BJP will put an end to the Jungle Raj in the state as well,” PM Modi asserted.

Launching a scathing attack at the Congress party, the prime minister said, “In reality, it (Congress) has transformed into what can be described as MMC: the Muslim League Maoist Congress.”

He said the foundation of Congress’ political approach is rooted in ”negativity”. “It (Congress) focuses on raising objectionable slogans, disrupting parliamentary proceedings, attacking key institutions, casting doubt on electronic voting machines (EVMs), maligning the Election Commission, and promoting division along lines of caste and religion,” he alleged.
The prime minister said Congress lacks a constructive or forward-looking vision for the nation. “Congress is a parasite that seeks to make a comeback by swallowing the vote bank of its allies. Therefore, even its allies need to be wary of Congress,” he remarked.
Thanking the people of Bihar for giving a massive mandate to the NDA in the Bihar elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said after 2010, the state has delivered its strongest mandate to the alliance.
He said this is not just a victory for the NDA, but “a triumph for democracy itself”. “It has bolstered public confidence in the Election Commission. Over the past few years, increased voter turnout, particularly among marginalized groups, has been a significant achievement for the Election Commission,” PM Modi added.
This is the same Bihar that was once plagued by Maoist insurgency, where voting in Naxal-affected areas often concluded as early as 3 pm, he recalled, adding, however, in this election, people turned out to vote with remarkable enthusiasm.
“Some political parties in Bihar introduced the MY formula as a strategy for appeasement. However, this huge victory has redefined the MY formula in a positive light, where it now represents “Mahila” and “Youth”, PM Modi said.
