Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said with strengthening Delhi’s solid waste management infrastructure remaining a top priority for the government, the work to build a cleaner and more efficient capital continues in mission mode.
Gupta carried out an extensive review of cleanliness, waste management, inspecting the Cleanliness Target Unit and Garbage Vulnerable Points across South East Delhi’s Tughlakabad and Tehkhand areas. The CM also took stock of the proposed FCTS (Fixed Compactor Transfer Station) in Tehkhand village, and also reviewed the proposed Construction and Demolition waste collection site.
Gupta conducted a detailed assessment of the existing arrangements, progress of proposed structures, and future requirements related to sanitation and waste collection. She directed officials to ensure that all projects are completed within stipulated timelines and in accordance with stringent quality standards.
The chief minister emphasized that cleanliness and sanitation are certain areas where the government has intensified efforts, and is working on a mission mode to address such problems.
She also conducted surprise checks of works like cleaning of drains, waste disposal and construction, and upkeep of the broken roads, giving strict instructions to complete the ongoing projects within time so that the people do not face inconvenience.
Calling for urgent improvements, she directed the officials to undertake essential repairs without delay so that people living in the areas could get relief. She said that the government’s foremost objective is to realise ‘Viksit Delhi’ as a clean, safe, and modern city equipped with robust civic infrastructure.
