The Delhi Assembly’s Committee of Privileges, which is conducting an inquiry into the matter regarding the authenticity of the ‘Faansi Ghar’, on Thursday took note of the non-appearance of Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Ram Niwas Goel, and Rakhi Birla, who were scheduled to appear before the committee.
The next sitting of the committee has been fixed for November 20. The committee emphasized that the forthcoming sitting will be critical for advancing the inquiry into the authenticity of ‘Faansi Ghar.’

“Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Ram Niwas Goel, and Rakhi Birla did not appear before the Committee of Privileges during its sitting on Thursday. The committee has now given them another opportunity to place their version on record and has fixed November 20, 2025, at 2:30 pm as the next date for their appearance,” informed Pradyumn Singh Rajput, Chairperson of the Committee of Privileges.
During its deliberations on Thursday, the committee continued its detailed examination of the matter concerning the authenticity of the ‘Faansi Ghar, which was inaugurated on August 9, 2022, in the Delhi Legislative Assembly premises.
Notably, the inauguration was held in the presence of then CM Kejriwal, Deputy CM Sisodia, Assembly Speaker Goel, and Deputy Speaker Birla — all of whom previously held these positions.
The current Delhi government and several historians have disputed the claim that the structure was an actual gallows, identifying it instead as a “tiffin room” or a lift shaft used during the British era. The matter is currently under review by the Delhi Assembly’s Committee of Privileges, which has summoned the former AAP leaders for questioning over the alleged distortion of history and misuse of public funds.
The committee reviewed the documents, background records, and other material relating to the matter, as part of its ongoing effort to scrutinise the facts and circumstances surrounding the inauguration.
The subject remains under comprehensive assessment, with the committee considering both procedural aspects and factual clarifications necessary for the inquiry.
The chair further noted that the sitting saw the participation of Abhay Kumar Verma, Ajay Kumar Mahawar, Neeraj Basoya, Surya Prakash Khatri, and Satish Upadhyay, allowing the committee to proceed with its planned deliberations.
The committee expressed that it expects the individuals who did not appear on Thursday to ensure their presence on the next date so that their statements and clarifications can be duly recorded.
The panel reiterated its commitment to a fair, structured, and diligent examination of the matter placed before it.
