UP on high alert after Delhi blast; DGP holds high-level meeting as ATS raids multiple locations

With Uttar Pradesh on high alert following the Delhi blast incident, state Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials, including ATS Chief Amitabh Yash and intelligence officers, to assess the security situation across the state.

As part of the intensified security drive, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), along with Jammu and Kashmir Police, carried out multiple raids in Lucknow, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, and Hapur. In Lucknow, officials raided the residence of Dr. Parvez Ansari, said to be the brother of Dr. Shaheen Shahid, recovered several crucial documents, though Dr. Parvez was not found at home. Raids have been also carried out at Dr Shaheen’s residence in Khandari Bazar, Lalbagh, also in the state capital.

In Saharanpur, two individuals reportedly close to arrested terrorist Dr Adil Ahmad were taken into custody and moved to an undisclosed location for questioning. Adil is a native of Anantanaag in Kashmir and was arrested on November 6 last by the J and K police from Saharanpur.

ATS teams also searched the Daud Arabia Darul Uloom madrasa in Muzaffarnagar’s Budhana area, interrogating the management regarding two suspects, Suleman and Sohel, who were recently arrested by the Gujarat ATS.

In Hapur, police raided the home of 1993 blast accused Abdul Karim Tunda, currently lodged in Dasna jail, and questioned his relatives after receiving inputs about suspicious activity.

Security measures have been further strengthened at key religious and tourist sites, including the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya and the Taj Mahal in Agra, where bomb disposal squads and dog units have been deployed for thorough checks.

The police conducted a checking operation at the Ayodhya Ram Temple complex, while a dog squad and bomb disposal squad (BDS) carried out checks at the Taj Mahal in Agra on Tuesday.
