The Department of Journalism & Mass Communication at Central University of Odisha (CUO) organized a two-day Workshop on Print Designing and Advertising Campaign at the CUO Campus today, intending to enhance media skills among students.

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Narasingha Charan Panda, Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) of the university Prof. Atish Prashar, proffessor of Journalism & Mass Communication at Central University of South Bihar, Gaya was the resource person.

In his address during the inauguration, Prof. Panda emphasized the crucial role of the media as a societal bridge and stressed the importance of positive media for societal well-being. He encouraged students to stay updated with emerging media techniques and technologies, especially in the era of Artificial Intelligence, where everything—living and non-living—serves as media.

Prof. Prashar highlighted that understanding and harnessing technology is vital for media effectiveness, underscoring the importance of skill development in contemporary media education.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Lenka, Registrar, called the workshop an essential platform for media students to learn and hone their skills. He reiterated that in the age of technology, acquiring practical skills is a weapon for students’ future professional success. Dr. Nikhil Kumar Gouda, Head of the Department, conveyed the purpose behind organizing the event, emphasizing the need for continuous skill enhancement. Dr. Pradosh Kumar Rath expressed gratitude and proposed the Vote of Thanks.

During the the two days of workshopt, students will be engaged in hands-on activities related to print designing and advertising strategies, underlining the department’s commitment to providing practical, industry-relevant training. The event received enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students alike.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by distinguished faculty members from CUO, including Prof. Rathi Kanta Kumbhar, Professor of Economics; Dr. Debabrata Panda and Kakoli Banerjee, Assistant Professors of the department of Biodiversity; Dr. S.K. Srinivas, Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology; Dr Nupur Pattnaik, Department of Sociology; Dr. Anupam Dakua, Assistant Professor, Department of Agriculture; Dr. Manoj Singh, Department of Hindi; Dr. Debasis Karmakar, Assistant Professor, Department of Sanskrit; faculty members of the Department Dr. Sourav Gupta, Dr. Gaurav Ranjan, Mr. Sumit Kumar Behera, Dr. Sony Parhi, Dr. Talat Jahan Begum; Dr. Phagunath Bhoi, PRO and other dignitaries, students, research scholars and staff of the University.
