Taking on Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the “naamdaar” (dynast) was promising to rebuild Nalanda University if his party comes to power even though the institution has already been revived under the NDA government.

“There is a limit to lying,” he said at a rally in poll-bound Bihar.

He claimed that while the Congress government had allocated only ₹20 crore for the redevelopment of Nalanda University, the NDA government has invested ₹2,000 crore.

Striking an empathetic note with the people of Bihar, the Prime Minister said he proudly showcases the state’s crop, Makhana, on the global stage.

“Whenever I travel abroad, I gift a box of makhana to world leaders and tell them this is the livelihood of my farmers from Bihar,” he said.

PM Modi, while speaking at a rally in Saharsa, added that his government has given special focus to fish farmers by creating a dedicated ministry and budget for the fisheries sector, a first in India, to improve their income and livelihoods.

Recalling the long-delayed Kosi Rail Mahasetu project, Modi said former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had laid its foundation stone in 2003, but the project stalled when the Congress-led UPA government came to power with RJD’s support in 2004. He accused the Congress-RJD alliance of “taking revenge on Bihar” by halting key development projects and funds meant for the state.

Continuing his attack, Modi alleged that the Congress’ “royal family” celebrates foreign festivals but dismisses Bihar’s Chhath Puja as “drama.”

Congratulating India’s women’s cricket team for winning the ICC Women’s World Cup, Modi said the victory reflects the new confidence of India’s daughters.

“These are daughters from small villages and towns, from farmers’ and labourers’ families. Their success makes the entire nation proud,” he said, extending his congratulations to the players and their parents.
