Days ahead of the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, NDA candidate from Mokama, Anant Singh, was arrested by police in connection with the murder of Jan Suraaj Party worker Dularchand Yadav.
Yadav, a supporter of Jan Suraaj Party candidate Piyush Priyadarshi, was shot dead while campaigning in Mokama on October 30.

The incident occurred near Khushhal Chak, where Priyadarshi, also known as Lallu Mukhiya, was campaigning. At the same time, a convoy of Anant Singh, contesting on a JDU ticket, was passing through the area, leading to an altercation between supporters of the two rival camps.

The situation turned violent, and Yadav, a former RJD leader, sustained bullet injuries. He was declared brought dead by doctors on the way to the hospital.
Following the incident, police registered an FIR against Anant Singh and others under relevant sections of the Bihar Penal Code.
The Election Commission has intervened and sought a report from the Bihar DGP regarding the case.
Mokama is known as a stronghold of “bahubalis” in Bihar politics, notably Anant Singh, his brother Dilip Singh, and Surajbhan Singh.
