Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi launched her election campaign in Bihar with a massive rally at Bachhwara in Begusarai on Saturday. Attacking both the Bihar government and the Centre, she dubbed the so-called “double-engine government” a Delhi-controlled single engine and raised sharp questions on issues like unemployment, migration, privatisation, and pro-corporate policies.
She launched a fierce attack on both the central and state governments, saying, “Prime Minister Modi talks about a double-engine government, but the truth is that there is no double engine, only a single engine running from Delhi, where the voices of the people are ignored, and only a few select individuals are heard.”

Priyanka further alleged that even Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is neither being heard nor respected by the Centre.
She claimed that even after being in power for 20 years, the NDA government has failed to provide jobs to Bihar’s youth and has ruined the state’s economy. She added that women, too, have not benefited from this government, saying there is “no safety, no respect, no opportunities.”
Addressing the people of Bihar, Priyanka said, “The party that has been in power for 20 years has done nothing for you. It has only given you poverty, unemployment, and migration. Today, they are busy misleading you, talking about the past and the future, but ignoring your struggling present. Think carefully about your future and choose a government that works for your present.”
She reminded people that Bihar played a key role in the freedom movement, a struggle that gave India its Constitution and the right to vote.
“Today, Narendra Modi and the NDA government are snatching away that very right. Under the SIR exercise, names of lakhs of voters have been deleted in Bihar,” she alleged.
“After pushing Bihar into poverty, unemployment, and mass migration, now the NDA government is attempting to stay in power by stealing people’s votes. The aware people of Bihar will never tolerate this,” she said.
Countering the BJP’s frequent attacks over “dynastic politics” and its demand for 70 years of Congress accountability, Priyanka said, “They mislead people in the name of family politics. They attack Nehru and Indira, but never talk about real issues like unemployment and migration.”
She also accused the Modi government of promoting privatisation and handing over major public sector enterprises to the Prime Minister’s “corporate friends.” She also claimed that land in Bihar is being handed over free of cost to big industrialists.
