With an eye on the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has intensified her outreach to consolidate the party’s traditional Dalit base along with Muslim and Other Backward Class (OBC) voters.

After recently holding key meetings to strengthen the Muslim Bhaichaara Committee, the BSP supremo on Saturday chaired a crucial review meeting of the “Pichhda Varg Samaj Bhaichaara Sangathan” (Backward Class Brotherhood Organisation) in Lucknow.

Mayawati personally reviewed reports from all districts regarding the on-ground work to connect OBC communities with the BSP and emphasised the need to carry out voter enrolment drives in line with the Election Commission’s ongoing Special Summary Revision (SIR) exercise.

Reiterating the party’s commitment to social justice and political empowerment, Mayawati described the BSP as an Ambedkarite party dedicated to the uplift of Dalits, Adivasis, backward classes, minorities, and all marginalized sections of society. She urged workers to ensure that every eligible voter’s name is included in the electoral rolls, calling the right to vote a “master key to power and dignity.”

Mayawati also addressed confusion regarding BAMCEF (All India Backward and Minority Communities Employees Federation), clarifying that the original, unregistered BAMCEF—founded by BSP’s mentor Kanshi Ram—remains a social organization connected to the BSP family, meant to spread social awareness among educated employees.

She warned against “opportunistic and self-serving groups” running a registered version of BAMCEF, saying Kanshi Ram himself had advised caution against them.

The BSP leader said that while separate outreach wings have been formed for Muslims and backward classes, the upper castes, being politically aware, will join the party voluntarily upon realizing that their interests are also protected under BSP’s policy of “Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay” (for the welfare and happiness of all).

Through these renewed organizational efforts, Mayawati appears determined to rebuild her 2007-style social coalition of Dalits, Muslims, and OBCs, seen as key to reviving BSP’s fortunes ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls.
