With the crucial Bihar Assembly polls just about 10 days away, the Madhya Pradesh BJP unit is going the extra mile to impress the large number of Biharis living and working in the state.
The participation of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in this year’s grand celebrations of ‘Chhath’ pooja in the state on Tuesday is a clear indication of the move.

The biggest event was organized at Yadav’s hometown of Ujjain. The CM performed Chhath pooja with thousands of devotees at the Vikram Sarovar, located within the Samrat Vikramaditya University campus in Ujjain.
“Bihar has always decided the direction and future of India”, the MP CM asserted in his address to the devotees. Dr Yadav also announced that a ‘Mithila Ghat’ would be constructed at the Vikram Sarovar.
The CM’s statements carried quite obvious political connotations.
Yadav went on to say that Bihar has long been a guiding force for India, and it is the land of Lord Buddha and Mahavir, who enlightened not only the nation but the entire world. He noted that Bihar has provided the highest number of IAS and IPS officers in the country.
“Through simplicity, sincerity, capability and merit, the people of Bihar have earned nationwide recognition. Madhya Pradesh shares an ancient and cultural bond with Bihar”, the MP CM emphasized.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a grand temple dedicated to Mata Sita is being constructed at Sitamarhi in Bihar, at a cost of Rs 800 crore”, Dr Yadav informed the Bihari devotees.
Similar grand celebrations of Chhath pooja were also organised all over Madhya Pradesh, including the state capital Bhopal, and many BJP leaders took part in them.
Lakhs of Biharis live, work, and study in Madhya Pradesh. Many of them are voters in Bihar, while several others have family members who are voters in the poll-bound state.
The BJP has named Dr Mohan Yadav as one of its star campaigners for the Bihar polls. The MP CM has already addressed election rallies at Bagha, Sikta, Saharsa, and West Champaran in Bihar, a state that has a large population of Other Backward Classes (OBC), particularly Yadavs.
He is expected to tour the election-bound state soon again and add more strength to the BJP’s poll campaign there.
Another major OBC leader, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is also a star campaigner from Madhya Pradesh for the Bihar polls. Chouhan is the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, and the longest serving one at that, having ruled MP for more than 16 years.
He has served three consecutive terms as the MP CM, followed by a fourth term, which had a gap of about a year-and-a-half after his third stint.
Chouhan has also addressed poll rallies in Bihar, and is expected to carry out more intensive campaigning there for the saffron party in the days to come.
The Assembly polls in Bihar would be held in two phases, with the voting in the first phase scheduled on 6 November, and in the second phase on 11 November.
The opposition I.N.D.I.A Bloc’s Mahagathbandhan released its manifesto ‘Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran’ on the occasion of Chhath pooja today.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is expected to release its manifesto, likely to be titled ‘Viksit Bharat’, for the state on 30 October.
