DCP (South) Deependra Nath said that three police teams were immediately deployed to trace the missing child. CCTV footage from the locality showed a youth, identified as 22-year-old Shivam Saxena, walking away with the boy. A short while later, Shivam was seen returning alone, without the child.

After an intensive search, police found the child’s body about a kilometer away in the Pandu River. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death, with preliminary findings indicating that the boy may have been strangled.
Investigations revealed that the accused and the victim’s family lived in the same rented building and had frequent disputes. Police suspect that Shivam had been harboring an obsessive attraction toward the boy’s mother, Mamta, which may have led to the horrific crime.
DCP Nath said, “It appears to be a case of personal grudge and one-sided affection. The accused is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to arrest him.”
Police are awaiting the post-mortem report to confirm the cause of death, while teams continue to search for the accused.
