Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva on Wednesday said the AAP leaders’ statements blaming firecrackers for the pollution spike in the city, are politically motivated, and clearly show the party’s desperation.
He claimed the primary cause for the spike were not firecrackers, but the increase in stubble burning incidents across Punjab in the recent days.

He accused the AAP government in Punjab of negligence, which he said has resulted in the crop residue burning incidents in the state.
Sachdeva also said that the AAP leaders like Saurabh Bhardwaj and Sanjeev Jha should be prepared, claiming that next time, the people of the national capital may wipe out AAP’s political existence from the national capital.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor termed the statements from AAP leaders about “choking pollution” in Delhi, as ‘fabricated, ‘ claiming that from Diwali (October 20) to (October 22), neither any NGO working in the health sector, nor any aware RWA in Delhi, has made any such allegations.
The Average Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital on Wednesday was 353, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), which is under the ‘very poor’ category.
