Festival lights are gleaming across Uttar Pradesh and adding to the shine is the historic Lucknow Residency here that has brought alive the Revolt of 1857 with a mesmerizing light and sound show.

Launched by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department, the captivating show takes audiences on a journey through Lucknow’s cultural grandeur, traditional heritage, and the defining moments of India’s first war of independence. It brings to life the heroism of freedom fighters, the rich legacy of Awadhi culture, and the stories etched into the Residency’s time-worn walls.

UP Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “Through this Light and Sound Show, people can experience the soul of Lucknow’s history. It offers a glimpse into the courage, struggle, and sacrifice that gave birth to India’s freedom movement. For the first few days, entry will be free so that maximum people can experience it, after which a nominal fee will be introduced.”

The show will be held every evening at 6 PM within the Residency complex, using light, sound, and narrative storytelling to create a vivid, immersive experience.

Singh added, “The aim is to connect every generation with history in a way that is engaging and inspiring. Families, tourists, and especially children will find this show both educational and emotionally enriching. The bullet and cannon marks still visible on the Residency’s walls stand as silent witnesses to the bravery of those who laid the foundation for India’s independence.”

The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has envisioned this initiative as more than just a show as it is a revival of history through innovation. By blending heritage with modern storytelling, the project gives new life to one of Lucknow’s most iconic landmarks while promoting cultural and heritage tourism in the state.

The show offers both residents and tourists a chance to pause and connect with the city’s soul, where art, history, and patriotism come together under the evening sky.
