In a shocking incident of firing involving family members, a 72-year-old was allegedly shot by one of his grandsons over a dispute related to property in Old Delhi, the police said.
The alleged firing took place in Old Delhi’s Turkman Gate area, falling under the Chandni Mahal Police Station, during the morning hours on Tuesday.

It is said that the 72-year-old victim, identified as Shahbuddin, got involved in a verbal spat with his grandchildren, and later, one of them allegedly opened fire at him.
He was injured in the ordeal and was rushed to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, which is not far from the area where the incident took place.
The victim, who is under medical care at LNJP, is currently stable, an official said.
After the preliminary inquiry into the incident, cops learned there was a long-standing dispute related to an ancestral property among the family members, which is suspected to be the main cause behind the escalated situation that may have led to the violence.
Accordingly, a case under sections regarding attempt to murder is registered, while the police have begun tracing the accused person, who is said to have fled the scene.
The police have constituted teams to probe the matter and trace the absconding accused person.
