Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said on Tuesday that the chilly morning of 1959 is still deeply etched in our hearts, as on that day in the Hot Springs area of Ladakh, 10 of our brave police personnel sacrificed their lives while protecting the country, and it was after their sacrifice that the tradition of celebrating Police Memorial Day on 21 October began in India.
Paying rich tribute to the martyrdom of the brave police personnel, the CM noted that this day is a source of inspiration for every uniformed officer. “He who sacrifices his life on the altar of duty is truly immortal. This martyrdom inspires us to perform our duty with dedication and from the government’s point of view, it is a matter of pride that our jawans have always inspired their comrades with their devotion and dedication”, Dr Yadav added.
The CM said that the sacrifice and dedication of police personnel have ensured our peace and security, and they will always be remembered for their bravery, dedication, and spirit of service.
Praying for the prosperity and security of the state, he urged the policemen to continue their duty with dedication and devotion.
The CM noted that Madhya Pradesh is known as an island of peace, and that is due to the vigilance, discipline, and dedication of the state police. He pointed out that MP Police personnel are playing a leading role in controlling Naxalism, the mafia, cybercrime, and promoting women’s safety, technological innovation, and public awareness campaigns in the state.
Referring to the zero-tolerance policy, Chief Minister Dr Yadav said that the elimination of 10 Naxalites carrying bounties worth ₹1.5 crore last year, the arrest of the Jaipur serial blasts accused, and strict action against terrorists are excellent examples of police prowess. The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the goal of eliminating Naxalism by 2026 will be achieved based on the capabilities and competence of the police.
