In a fresh turn of events in the case of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar and ASI Sandeep Kumar Lather’s deaths allegedly by suicide, the Rohtak Police on Wednesday filed an FIR in Lather’s case in relation to abetment to suicide and criminal conspiracy.
The FIR names all the people mentioned in the final video of ASI Lather, who allegedly shot himself on Tuesday after accusing Puran Kumar of corruption.

The FIR (number 305) was registered at Sadar police station in Rohtak just hours after Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met Sandeep’s family in Ladhot village yesterday morning and assured them of justice.

Although the FIR was not made public at the time of reporting, the media reports said that four people have been named – Puran Kumar’s wife Amneet P Kumar, an IAS officer (batch of 2001), her brother Amit Rattan, an AAP MLA from Punjab, and Head Constable Sushil Kumar, who was Puran Kumar’s personal security officer and is currently in police remand in a corruption case.
The FIR was filed under Sections 108 (abetment to suicide) and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint by Sandeep’s wife, Santosh.
Satyavan Lather, a relative of deceased ASI Lather, said the family has agreed to the post-mortem and will perform the cremation rituals at 12 noon today (Thursday). He added that the last rites will be performed in Julana.
Lather, an ASI with Haryana Police, died by suicide recently putting serious allegations of corruption on late ADGP Y Puran Kumar, who recently shot himself blaming 13 IPS officers including DGP Haryana for his suicide alleging caste-based discrimination, after an FIR was registered against him for alleged corruption.
