Amneet P Kumar, the wife of late IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, has given her consent for the autopsy of her husband. The postmortem will be conducted today at PGI Chandigarh by a special team of doctors, under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The entire procedure will be videographed for documentation purposes.

This development comes a day after Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapoor was sent on leave, following serious allegations made in Puran Kumar’s suicide note. Kumar was found dead from a gunshot wound at his residence in Chandigarh on October 7. In an eight-page note, he reportedly accused eight senior IPS officers, including Kapoor, of caste-based discrimination, mental harassment, and abuse.

In a statement, Amneet Kumar said the family agreed to the autopsy after receiving assurances from Chandigarh Police and the Haryana government that the investigation would be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.

Meanwhile, another troubling incident has come to light. On Tuesday, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Kumar from Rohtak allegedly died by suicide. According to police sources,  he allegedly accused Y. Puran Kumar of corruption before his death.

In a video message, he praised former Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarnia as an honest officer and voiced support for him. Bijarnia was recently transferred following the incident.

Police sources further revealed that ASI Sandeep had previously been involved in the arrest of Head Constable Sushil Kumar, who was reportedly close to Y Puran Kumar.

The incident took place a day after the Haryana government sent Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur on leave. It had earlier transferred Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya following an uproar over Puran Kumar’ death.
