Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday, while lashing out at Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh for its reported claims that more than 15,000 encounters were carried out to contain crime in the state, alleged that the claims are meant to provide a cover to illegal activities.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Such statements are issued just to create terror in the society and to cover up the illegal activities of the government and corruption.”

He further said, “People in our Dalit and PDA communities are worried about the discrimination they face. The pressure is so intense that people are being forced to commit suicide. The BJP will do anything to avoid defeat. Over 43 people have been injured in the wolf menace. The government is going for cow tourism but doing nothing for bulls as they are killing people.”
“This government wants to create a perception by scaring people with encounters. As a result, many innocent people were killed under the pretext of encounters. In many places, police had to go to jail in fake encounter cases,” he added.
The SP president said the government’s slogan of Swadeshi is meant to mislead us and you. “These people are foreigners at heart, and if they are foreigners at heart, why aren’t you imposing tariffs on China,” he questioned.
Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav held a review meeting with PDA’s Sainthwar & Mal community. He vowed to set up a statue of Kedar Nath Sainthwar at Gomti River front when the SP government comes to power.
