Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena leader Ambadas Danve accused the Devendra Fadnavis government on Monday of discontinuing welfare schemes that were started by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Tweeting from his X account, Danve stated, “By closing down schemes that were expected to bring a modicum of benefit to the common man, the Devendra Fadnavis government has flouted the decisions of its own cabinet colleagues”.

“Eknath Shinde’s schemes, which have been shut down, are ‘Anandacha Shidha Yojana’ (Ration Of Happiness Scheme), ‘Majhi Sundar Shala Yojana’ (My Beautiful School Scheme), ‘One Rupee Crop Insurance Yojana’, ‘Swachhta Monitor Yojana’ (Hygiene Monitor Scheme), ‘One State One Uniform Yojana’, Ladkya Bhaavaala Apprenticeship Yojana (Apprenticeship For Beloved Brothers), Yojanadoot Yojana, and Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Darshan Scheme. The Fadnavis government is shutting down its schemes. We will definitely expose this to the public before the local body elections,” Danve tweeted on X.

Danve stated that the Fadnavis government had launched the ‘Anandacha Shidha’ ration scheme three years ago so that the poor and needy may celebrate the festive season with joy.

“However, due to the current financial crisis of the state, this scheme is now only on paper. There was hope of getting the benefits of the ‘Anandacha Shidha’ scheme on the eve of Diwali. However, information has come to light that no action has been taken at the government level due to a lack of funds for this scheme,” Danve stated.

Danve stated that expenses to implement the ‘Laadki Bahin Scheme’ have put pressure on the state government’s exchequer. Danve recalled how Minister of Social Justice Sanjay Shirsat had stated earlier that funds of many departments have been diverted to the Ministry of Women and Child Development, which implements the ‘Laadki Bahin Scheme,’ which is seen as a vote catcher.

Earlier, on May 5, Maharashtra’s Minister for Social Justice and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat told media persons that due to the prevailing funds crunch, it would not be possible to increase the monthly cash payment to women under the ‘Laadki Bahin Yojana’ (My Beloved Sister Scheme) from Rs 1500 to Rs 2100, which was promised by the election manifesto of the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance.

“The Maharashtra state’s budget is only Rs 2.5 lakh crore. The Social Justice Department (headed by Shirsat) ought to get Rs 39.5 crore. I have received Rs 22 thousand crore. I have received only Rs 15 thousand crore, out of which 7 thousand crore has gone to other schemes. I have written to the Chief Minister, and I have also made a request to Ajit Pawar for additional funds,” Shirsat had said on May 5 this year.

Later on Monday, when Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, who is also the state’s finance minister, was asked to react to charges leveled against the Fadnavis government by SS (UT) leader Ambadas Danve, Pawar said, “Some schemes are ongoing, but not all of them run forever”.

“Some changes are made keeping in mind the situation of that time. ‘Anandacha Shidha’, a free ration scheme, was given to certain people. More people get money from the Laadki Bahin Yojana. The Mahayuti government is positive about all the schemes,” Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said.

“If the objectives behind some schemes are not achieved, we make changes. We find a way out accordingly. There is nothing new about this. This has been the practice since the country and the state gained independence. Many schemes were started before, but some were discontinued, while others were modified, and other schemes were made more people-oriented. Similarly, efforts are being made to find a way out regarding these schemes as well,” Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said.
