Notably, Chief Minister Mann has directed the Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners, and Senior Superintendents of Police to make Punjab a drug-free state.

To monitor the progress of this mission, the state government has constituted a five-member Cabinet Sub-Committee, headed by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.

Over 100 police teams, comprising more than 800 personnel and operating under the supervision of 60 gazetted officers, conducted the raids. During the day-long operation, the teams also checked 324 suspicious individuals.

Under the state’s three-pronged strategy—Enforcement, De-addiction, and Prevention (EDP)—the Punjab Police, as part of the De-addiction initiative, motivated 28 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
