Kerala BJP unit general secretary MT Ramesh on Tuesday stressed the need for a comprehensive probe by a Central investigation agency into the Sabarimala temple “gold theft”.

Calling the state chief minister’s silence on the issue mysterious, Ramesh, speaking to media persons here, alleged that the chief minister’s office is directly involved in the matter. The chief minister is not ready to respond even when there has been an allegation that the government is also involved in the issue.

He alleged such issues have cropped up after N Vasu became the Travancore Devaswom Board President. Vasu is the chief minister’s representative, he said.

The BJP state general secretary alleged that Unnikrishnan Potty’s connections with CPI-M leaders are already exposed. If this is the state of the gold-plated Dwarapalaka sculpture, it is clear that crores of rupees might have been siphoned off from the Sabarimala slush fund.

He demanded the resignation of Devaswom Minister VN Vasavan and the Travancore Devaswom Board President.

Ramesh asked what development these people, who are looting Ayyappan’s wealth, are bringing to Sabarimala.

The BJP, he said, would organize protests against the “looting” in Sabarimala. As part of the protest, the party will organize a protest march to the chief minister’s residence (Cliff House) on Wednesday. There will be widespread protests in all districts on the 9th and 10th October, he asserted.
