The chief minister is currently on a spree of launching a series of developmental projects across districts ahead of the crucial state elections due in a few weeks. These schemes were originally announced during his state-wide ‘Pragati Yatra’ and were approved by the cabinet later.

On Sunday, Kumar inaugurated or laid the foundation stone for 331 developmental projects in the Vaishali district, with an estimated cost of Rs 745 crore. Earlier in the day, he launched 185 projects in the Gopalganj district, worth Rs1,585 crore. On Saturday, 25 projects worth approximately Rs 8,329 crore were launched in the Madhubani district. Similar announcements have been made for several other districts over the past few days.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has questioned the feasibility of these projects, seeking a clarification on the source of funding from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Yadav pointed out that between May and September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced projects worth Rs 1.15 lakh crore, while Kumar himself had announced Rs 50,000 crore worth projects during the ‘Pragati Yatra’ launched in December 2024.

He further claimed that the combined value of announcements made by the prime minister and chief minister now stands at Rs 7,08,729 crore. “Nitish Kumar must explain the source of funding for these announcements and how they will be implemented,” he said.
