The Women and Child Development Department, Chhattisgarh organised a three-day workshop titled “Poshan Bhi – Padhai Bhi” from September 25 to 27 in the Abhanpur project area here. Anganwadi workers (AWTs) from 12 sectors actively participated in the programme.
The workshop focused on the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), particularly strengthening non-formal schooling and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE). Under NEP 2020, Anganwadi centres are no longer seen merely as sites for nutrition services, but as the first step in ensuring the cognitive, linguistic, physical, mental, and social development of children.

She stressed that guidance from sector supervisors and master trainers would help workers understand local challenges and adopt practical solutions. She also underlined that the initiative not only integrates education and nutrition but also advances a holistic model combining health, nutrition, and early education.
The workshop saw active participation and support from sector supervisors including Kanchanprabha Sahu, Kanta Lakda, Smita Dhruv, Rekha Sahu, Rekha Rajput, Vaishali Dewangan, Rashmi Devi Verma, Khemeshwari Sahu, Saroj Khobragade, and Kusum Singh Thakur.
