Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty Kundra has hit back at reports claiming she received Rs 15 crore from her husband, Raj Kundra, nearly a decade ago. The news suggested that the amount was under investigation by the Economic Offence Wing (EOW).
However, the actress’ legal team has strongly denied these claims.

According to some media reports, the Rs 15 crore was allegedly part of a larger Rs 60 crore fraud, supposedly routed through a company linked to Shilpa Shetty. These reports caused a stir online.
Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s lawyer, Prashant Patil, called the reports “completely false and mischievous.” He said the actress has been forced to take legal action to protect her reputation. “This piece of information is totally fake and has been intentionally planted in the public domain to defame my client,” Patil said in a statement.
He added that they will pursue both criminal and civil action against all media outlets that circulated these unverified stories.
The lawyer further clarified, “No such amount was ever received by Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra. Since the matter is currently subjudice, we cannot reveal further details. However, all fake news and defamatory articles will face legal consequences.”
Patil also highlighted that Shilpa has always cooperated with investigation agencies and will continue to do so. But he stressed that false reporting infringes on her fundamental rights and must be addressed through the proper legal channels.
“We are approaching the Honourable Bombay High Court to seek relief against the defamatory campaign by certain media outlets. Any online article that publishes unverified facts will be held accountable in court,” he added.
The controversy stems from a complaint lodged by businessman Deepak Kothari, the director of Lotus Capital Financial Services. Kothari accused Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra of allegedly defrauding him of Rs 60.48 crore. The complaint claimed that the funds were transferred between 2015 and 2023 through a now-defunct company.
