‘Sukumaran Nair has turned Kattappa’: Banner criticizing NSS general secretary appears in Pathanamthitta

A day after Nair Service society (NSS) general secretary G Sukumaran Nair applauding the LDF government for taking steps to safeguard the Sabarimala traditions, a banner has been put up in front of the Vettipram NSS Karayogam (local unit) building in Pathanamthitta criticizing him. The banner, with sarcastic wording, reads, ‘Sukumaran Nair has turned Kattappa’.

The banner says Sukumaran Nair stabbed Ayyappa devotees in the back and that Sukumaran Nair is a shame for the community. “Sukumaran Nair stabbed Ayyappa devotees from back for family, Nair turned Kattappa, doing padaseva for Pinarayi Vijayan, is an embarrassment to the community,” the banner reads.

G Sukumaran Nair on Wednesday openly said that he has faith in the LDF government. He also supported the Pinarayi Vijayan government on the Sabarimala issue.

Lauding the LDF government for taking steps to safeguard the Sabarimala traditions, the leader of the organization of the Nair community said it assured them that they would resolve the issue in Sabarimala. He criticized the Congress and the BJP in a harsh language.

It is said that the rift between Opposition leader V D Satheesan and the NSS leadership is the reason for the shift in the stance of the NSS favouring the CPI-M-led LDF.
