Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday inaugurated six modern switching sub-stations to strengthen Delhi’s electric bus charging infrastructure to give a boost to the city green mobility.
These high capacity sub-stations, located at Peeragarhi, Nangloi, Ambedkar Nagar, Srinivaspuri, Okhla Central Workshop, and Narela, have been developed by BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. (TPDDL).

The five sub-stations at Peeragarhi, Nangloi, Ambedkar Nagar, Srinivaspuri, and Okhla Central Workshop will provide charging for 970 EV buses, while TPDDL’s Sub-Station at Narela will cater to 200 E-buses. Together, these facilities will ensure reliable, clean, and sustainable public transport for approximately 1170 EV buses in the national capital.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM emphasized her government’s commitment to timely execution, contrasting it with previous administrations that she stated were limited to planning and announcements. “Previous governments only made noise and advertised everything, while we are focused on delivering results. Six inaugurations at one place in one day is proof that we are here to work, not just to talk,” she said.
She highlighted that these inaugurations are part of the ongoing service fortnight launched to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17.
Detailing the government’s accelerated pace of work, she recounted her one-day work before the inauguration of substations, including the inauguration of roads and community centers worth Rs 760 crore in Pooth Khurd, a modern athletic track in Hirankudna village, and the distribution of nutrition kits to women in Bawana among others.
She also praised the Power and Transport departments for their synergy, with a special mention of the Transport and Power Ministers’ effective leadership driving the initiative.
Gupta also announced that on September 30, the government would inaugurate projects worth more than Rs 4500 crore for Yamuna river revival, including 46 schemes of STPs, sewer lines, and water reservoirs. “Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah will be dedicating Asia’s largest STP at Okhla to the people of Delhi,” she added.
Delhi Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, Power Minister Ashish Sood, MPs Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Yogendra Chandolia, and MLAs Karnail Singh, Manoj Kumar Shokeen, Raj Karan Khatri, and senior officials of the Power and Transport Departments were also present on the occasion.
The CM acknowledged previous infrastructure backlogs, but reaffirmed the government’s clear policy and intent to overcome them, crediting the collective efforts of all elected representatives and thanking the citizens for their trust, which she stated is the driving force behind this relentless development drive.
Dr. Singh stated that Delhi’s public transport system is being rebuilt, and under CM’s leadership the government is determined to bring back DTC’s lost glory. With more than 3000 electric buses already running and robust charging infrastructure, new benchmarks are being set in sustainable mobility.
On the occasion, Power Minister Sood reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure that every household and every depot will have reliable power, and by next summer season, wherever transformers or feeders need upgrading, they will be modernized.
