The Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025 began in Ranchi on Sunday with a spirited cyclothon from Morabadi Ground. Around 2,000 participants, including youths, school and college students, women, and cycling enthusiasts, took part in the event.

Union Minister of State for Defence and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, former Chief Minister Raghubar Das, BJP state organisation general secretary Karmveer Singh, and decorated cyclist Commander Gauri Mishra flagged off the event. The participants rode for 4 km, raising slogans of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram.”

All participants were given T-shirts and certificates. Cultural performances, including patriotic songs and a band display by students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas from Kanke and Angara, added colour to the atmosphere.

Raghubar Das said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the goal of a developed India by 2047, and for that, the health and fitness of our youth are crucial. This festival is a step in that direction.”

Sanjay Seth urged people to make cycling a part of daily life. “Cycling must become a way of life if we are to build a developed India,” he said. He added that the festival, which runs until December 25, would include a grand marathon on October 12, with an expected participation of 25,000 runners.

BJP leaders, including Ranchi Metropolitan president Varun Sahu, Ranchi Rural district president Dheeraj Mahato, Yuva Morcha state president Shashank Raj, and Metropolitan Yuva Morcha president Romit Narayan, were present.

Seth said the festival would script “a new chapter in Ranchi’s sporting culture” and that the overwhelming participation showed the city’s potential as a fertile ground for sports.
